The Toad- Birthday Cake

This cake was for my brother-in-law who has a love for all creatures furry or not. We decided we wanted to make a toad. We made up this "recipe" and had lots of fun making it.

We wanted to toad to be more pea green, but we ran out of food coloring so had to add some blue.

We used 2 cake mixes and 2 vanilla frostings.

To make his body we baked a cake (according to package) in a pyrex bowl. We had to watch it very carefully because there are no instructions for baking cake in a bowl! We lowered the temp and cooked longer to make sure it was done in the center.

We then baked 2 9" circle cakes according to package instructions.

We wanted this to be silly; so we also prepared a batch of vanilla pudding. We added red food coloring to make the vanilla pudding look like guts. Although our brother-in-law is an adult, this would be a great addition for any boy.

We then layered one 9" round cake, a pile of red vanilla pudding and the bowl shaped cake to make the body.

Then we cut out legs out of the remaining 9" round cake. Placed the cake in the freezer for 20 minutes (this helps when you go to ice it), and then frosted it!

We used Oreos for eyes.
