1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg or allspice
1/3 cup plain yogurt or applesauce (healthy alternative to oil)
1/3 cup apple juice (you can use water or milk if you don't have this on hand)
2 cups apples or pears - diced
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup oats
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease muffin pan or line with paper muffin liners.
Stir together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg/allspice. Mix in yogurt, egg and juice. Fold in apples. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups until 2/3 full.
In a small bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cinnamon and oats. Mix and sprinkle over unbaked muffins. Drizzle melted butter.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.
