Adapted from Grandma Ople's Pie on allrecipes.com
- 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 tbls flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 8 apples cored, peeled and sliced.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour and let cook for a minute while constantly stirring. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer. Stir in cinnamon.
Place the bottom crust in your pan and place apples in the crust. Cover with a lattice crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off. *If you do a non-lattice crust just pour the sauce over the apples before topping- leaving some extra to brush on the crust.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
