Green Bean Casserole

5 cups fresh steamed green beans or 3 cans french cut green beans, drained
2 tbls butter
3/4 cup diced onions
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream (if you don't have sour cream you can use an additional 1/2 cup milk, but stir in 1 tbls flour to thicken)
2 (10ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 cup cheddar cheese
2 cups crushed croutons, crackers or fried onions


Steam green beans and place in greased 9x13 pan.

Meanwhile, saute onion in butter until tender and translucent. Set 1/2 cup onion aside. Stir in pepper, garlic, milk, sour cream and mushroom soup with the 1/4 cup onion still in pan.
Stir in 1 cup cheese. Top with remaining onions, sprinkle with bread crumbs or crackers.

Bake at 350 for 30 mins.
